Pricing sits at the point where margin, conversion and customer trust all pull against each other. You will build the models that set discount depth, decide which items get a delivery-fee waiver, and forecast the demand effect of a campaign before we run it.
Most of it is elasticity estimation, causal inference and experiment design, not deep learning. We run a lot of experiments, and a large part of your job is making sure they are designed well enough to be worth running, and read honestly afterwards.
You will work alongside a pricing product manager and two engineers who put your models into production. The models have to be explainable, because a category head will ask why an item was discounted and a shrug is not an answer.
Three to six years in an applied data science role with real experiment design experience. Strong SQL and Python are assumed. What we weight most heavily is judgement: knowing when a simpler model is better, and being able to say clearly what a result does and does not prove.
Bharat Commerce Labs operates a marketplace and fulfilment network built for tier-2 and tier-3 cities. We handle catalogue, search, payments, returns and last-mile delivery for roughly eleven million monthly shoppers.
Scale is the interesting part of the job. A homepage change is measured against a hundred thousand sessions within the hour, and a slow query shows up in the conversion dashboard before anyone opens a monitoring tool. Teams run their own experiments and own their own numbers.
Our engineering centre is in Sector 44, Gurugram, with satellite teams in Bengaluru and Kolkata.
