About the job
About Galvix
Galvix helps US mid-market businesses manage sales tax compliance end to end. We pair our own software with a team of specialists who do the work: tax determination, exemption certificates, return preparation, and filings.
We are a small, profitable, bootstrapped team of 10, and we compete with the large incumbents in this space by being better at the complicated cases they handle poorly. Our customers are manufacturers, distributors, and construction firms with genuinely complex compliance needs.
The role
You will be our first marketing hire and the person who owns marketing.
Most of what we have built so far lives on our own website. The bigger opportunity is everywhere else. Our buyers form their opinion long before they reach us: in communities, in comparison threads, in review sites, in what an AI assistant tells them when they ask which vendor to use. That surface is largely unclaimed for us, and building it is the core of this job.
This is a build role, not a management one. You will figure out the positioning, write the words, ship the pages, and go earn the presence yourself.
Primary focus: off-site presence
- Communities. Reddit, industry forums, and the places finance and accounting professionals actually talk to each other. This means participating as a real person with a real point of view, not planting mentions. We are playing a long game here and will not do anything that risks the brand being blacklisted.
- Third-party surfaces. Review sites, comparison and listicle placements, directories, analyst and niche publications. Finding the right ones, then doing the outreach and persuasion to get us included.
- Founder-led marketing. Building the CEO's presence on LinkedIn and elsewhere, largely through ghostwriting and shaping.
- Guest content and partnerships. Podcasts, newsletters, and publications that our buyers already trust.
- Customer proof. Reviews, case studies, and referral programs that give the above something to point at.
- Answer-engine visibility. Increasingly, buyers ask an AI rather than a search engine. Understanding what shapes those answers, and building toward it, is part of the remit.
Also yours
- Positioning and messaging. Why a finance leader should switch from the vendor they have used for years.
- The website. Product, comparison, and landing pages. Our site is custom-built and you will have the repo. We expect you to ship changes yourself rather than queue behind a designer and a developer.
- Content worth reading. Sales tax is a field full of SEO filler written by people who do not understand it. We would rather publish less and be genuinely useful.
Who this is for
- 3 to 7 years in B2B SaaS marketing, ideally including an early-stage company where you owned several things at once.
- Direct experience building presence on channels you do not control. You have persuaded an editor, grown a community presence, or earned placements somewhere that did not want to give them away.
- You can find the angle. You read customer calls and hear the sentence that becomes the headline.
- You write well on your own and use AI to move faster, not to fill space.
- You have shipped web pages yourself, or you would go learn how rather than wait a week for a developer.
- You want to go deep on a technical domain. Sales tax compliance is genuinely hard, and you will not be credible in these communities until you understand it properly. That takes months, and we will give you the months.
This is a poor fit if you need a large budget or a team to be effective, or if you measure success in volume rather than quality. The channels we care about punish that approach, permanently.
How we hire
No long take-home. We will spend a couple of hours working through a real problem together, live. You can use any tools you want, including AI. We are interested in the questions you ask and how you think, not in how polished a deck you can produce over a weekend.
What we offer
- Competitive compensation and meaningful equity as an early employee.
- Direct access to the CEO, no approval layers, and the ability to ship an idea the day you have it.
- A profitable company that can play long games. Off-site presence compounds over years, and we are structured to wait for it.
