Why this role exists

Our warehouse has grown by accretion. There are eleven versions of "signup" scattered across BigQuery, and finance and growth disagree about revenue every single month. Over six months in Pune you will help fix that, working three days a week from the Baner office beside two full time analytics engineers.

The stack and the job

Everything lands in BigQuery through Fivetran and Airbyte. Your work sits in dbt. You will convert legacy SQL views into tested models, add staging layers for the employer billing and job posting sources, and write schema tests so a broken upstream column fails loudly instead of silently. Later in the internship you take ownership of the marts layer for recruiter analytics, including the model that feeds employer invoices.

Learning along the way

You get a mentor from week one and a proper code review before anything merges. Expect to learn version control properly, to write commit messages someone else can read, and to think about data as a product with real users. Professional experience is not required. Solid SQL and the patience to untangle other people's queries are.

Responsibilities

  • Convert legacy SQL views into tested and documented dbt models
  • Build staging models for the employer billing and job posting source tables
  • Add schema and freshness tests so upstream breakages surface immediately
  • Own the recruiter analytics marts layer, including the employer invoicing model
  • Reconcile conflicting metric definitions between the finance and growth teams
  • Review the daily dbt run and triage failed builds
  • Write model documentation so downstream users know what each column means

Requirements

  • Final year student or recent graduate from any discipline with strong SQL fundamentals
  • Understanding of joins, CTEs, aggregation and basic query performance
  • Familiarity with Git, or willingness to learn it in your first fortnight
  • Clear written English for model and metric documentation
  • Able to attend the Pune office three days a week

Skills

Benefits

  • Stipend paid monthly and reviewed at the three month mark
  • A named mentor and a weekly pairing session
  • Certificate and a detailed performance letter at the end
  • Strong conversion track into a full time analytics engineer role
  • Company paid access to a dbt certification course
