Greenfield, for once

Most internships hand you a legacy codebase and a list of small tickets. This one hands you an empty repository. We are building a notifications service from scratch on .NET 8 minimal APIs, and over six months you help take it from the first commit to something running in production behind the main application.

Along the way

You will make real decisions: how the request contracts look, whether templating belongs in the service or the caller, what the database schema should be. Some of those decisions will turn out badly and you will migrate away from them, which is the entire point of doing this now rather than later. Expect to write xUnit tests from week one, containerise the service by month two, and instrument it well enough that you can answer questions about its behaviour without guessing.

Working style

Three days a week in our Bengaluru office, two wherever suits you. You will present the service to the wider engineering team twice, once at the halfway mark and once at the close, so you get practice explaining technical work to people who did not write it. Final year students and recent graduates are exactly who this seat is for.

Responsibilities

  • Help design the request and response contracts for a new notifications service
  • Implement endpoints using .NET 8 minimal APIs and the results pattern
  • Model and migrate the service database starting from an empty schema
  • Write xUnit tests alongside each feature rather than bolting them on afterwards
  • Containerise the service and get it running in our staging cluster
  • Add OpenTelemetry traces so the service can be debugged in production
  • Present the service to the engineering team at the midpoint and at the end

Requirements

  • Final year student or recent graduate with no industry experience
  • Can build a small C# console or web project from scratch unaided
  • Willing to make design decisions and then defend or revise them
  • Familiar with Git basics: branch, commit, rebase and pull request
  • Able to work from the Bengaluru office three days a week

Skills

Benefits

  • Monthly stipend across all six months
  • A greenfield codebase where your architectural choices actually stick
  • Two presentation slots to practise explaining technical work
  • Certificate, reference letter and an introduction to our hiring partners
