The product you join
MailerMen's job board pushes roughly forty thousand listing pages to Google every week, and the MERN codebase behind it is small enough that a new engineer can read all of it in a fortnight. You will sit with the core product pod in our Bengaluru office three days a week and work on the same repository the full time engineers ship from.
Six months of real tickets
Your first month is spent on the employer dashboard: Mongoose schemas for company profiles, an Express route for bulk listing upload, and the React form that talks to it. After that you move into search, where you will help move keyword filtering from a regex query onto MongoDB Atlas text indexes and measure what it does to page load. Later in the six months you will own a feature end to end, most likely the saved search alerts that email candidates when a matching role appears.
How you will be supported
Every pull request you open gets reviewed by a senior engineer, and you pair for two hours a week on whatever is blocking you. We keep a written internship plan so you always know what the next milestone is.
Responsibilities
- Build and ship features across the employer dashboard, from Mongoose schema to React form
- Write Express routes for company profile creation, bulk listing upload and listing moderation
- Move keyword search from regex matching onto MongoDB Atlas text indexes and benchmark the result
- Own the saved search alert feature end to end, including the email trigger
- Raise small, reviewable pull requests and respond to review comments the same day
- Add integration tests for every API route you touch using Jest and Supertest
- Join the Tuesday planning call and post a written standup each morning
Requirements
- Final year student or recent graduate in any discipline, no professional experience needed
- You have built at least one project with React and Node.js, even a college submission
- Comfortable with JavaScript fundamentals such as promises, array methods and destructuring
- Able to work from our Bengaluru office three days a week
- You read an error message and search for the answer before asking
