This role is open worldwide, which means we designed it to run asynchronously from the first day rather than bolting remote work onto an office process.

How a distributed internship works here

Your mentor writes your brief in a document instead of a meeting and you reply in comments. There are two live calls a week, at least one scheduled to overlap India hours, and everything else happens in pull requests and written updates. If you have never worked this way, you will pick up a professional habit that outlasts the three months by a decade.

The project

You join the deliverability service, a Java 17 and Spring Boot component that decides which sending domain a message leaves from. Your project is a reputation scorer: aggregate bounce and complaint counts per domain out of MySQL, compute a rolling score, expose it over REST, and cache it so the send path never pays for a query per message. JUnit tests are part of done, not a follow-up ticket.

Who can apply

Final-year students and recent graduates anywhere. You need solid Java fundamentals, written English good enough to explain a decision in a paragraph, and the discipline to unblock yourself between calls.

Responsibilities

  • Build a sending-domain reputation scorer inside the deliverability service
  • Aggregate bounce and complaint counts from MySQL into a rolling score
  • Expose the score over REST and cache it so the send path stays fast
  • Write JUnit tests as part of every pull request rather than afterwards
  • Post a written progress update twice a week in the team channel
  • Document design decisions before you start implementing them

Requirements

  • Final-year student or recent graduate anywhere in the world
  • Solid Java fundamentals and familiarity with at least one web framework
  • Written English clear enough to explain a technical decision in a paragraph
  • Able to overlap India hours for at least two calls each week
  • Self-directed enough to unblock yourself between those calls

Skills

Benefits

  • Monthly stipend paid wherever in the world you are based
  • Asynchronous by default with only two fixed calls a week
  • Written feedback on every pull request you open
  • Certificate and an open reference for future applications
