API Engineering Intern - REST & Node.js
What this role pays, in context
This listing does not state its pay. Node.js Developer roles in India currently advertise a median of ₹13.5K a month.
Median of 6 other live Node.js Developer listings in India on this board that state pay. Roles that do not disclose a salary are excluded rather than counted as zero.
Scope
Two months is short, so this internship is deliberately narrow. You will work on the public REST API that partner job boards use to syndicate MailerMen listings, and on nothing else. The narrowness is the point.
What you will do
The current API returns three different error shapes depending on which route you hit, and pagination changes personality between endpoints. You will define one error envelope, apply it across roughly twenty routes, and document each one with an OpenAPI spec that lives in the repository. After that you build cursor based pagination for the listings collection and write the contract tests that prove old partner clients did not break. A mentor pairs with you for two hours every Tuesday and Thursday and reviews every pull request you raise.
Practicalities
This internship carries no stipend and we would rather be direct about that than hide it. What you get instead is a genuine production codebase, review from engineers who care about API design, and a portfolio piece you can talk through in an interview. Three days a week happen in the Pune office, because design arguments go better on a whiteboard. Final year students and recent graduates are welcome; no professional experience needed.
