About the team
Payments Core owns the ledger, the disbursement pipeline and the repayment engine. When a loan is approved somewhere upstream, everything that happens to the money afterwards is our responsibility, and every rupee has to be accounted for at end of day.
What you will do
Design and build services that move money and record it correctly. That means double-entry accounting done properly, idempotent APIs, careful handling of partial failure with a bank that timed out but may or may not have processed the instruction, and reconciliation jobs that make a discrepancy loud rather than silent.
You will also spend real time on the boring, essential parts: audit trails, replayable event logs and the runbooks an on-call engineer reads at 3am.
What we look for
Four or more years of backend engineering with meaningful exposure to systems where correctness matters more than throughput. Fintech experience helps but is not required; we have hired excellent people from logistics, ticketing and telecom billing.
What is not optional is rigour. If your instinct on hearing about a duplicate webhook is to add a uniqueness constraint rather than a retry counter, you will fit here.
Responsibilities
- Build and operate ledger, disbursement and repayment services
- Design APIs that are safe to retry under any failure mode
- Own daily reconciliation and make discrepancies impossible to ignore
- Write runbooks and take part in a structured on-call rotation
- Review designs across the team with an eye for correctness
Requirements
- 4+ years of backend engineering in production
- Strong relational database skills including transactions and isolation levels
- Experience with event-driven or queue-based architectures
- Understanding of double-entry accounting, or willingness to learn it quickly
- Comfortable working under regulatory and audit constraints
