About the role

Bellrock Analytics is hiring a data engineer on a fully remote basis. You will build the pipelines that turn raw events into tables the rest of the business is willing to bet on. A pipeline that is fast and quietly wrong is worse than one that is slow, so correctness, lineage and replay are the axes we optimise.

Hiring in the UK means competing with London salaries wherever the role actually sits, so we pay a single national band rather than discounting outside the M25.

What the work actually looks like

The work is a mix of new ingestion, modelling in the warehouse, and the permanent background task of handling late, duplicated and malformed records without silently dropping them. You will own the freshness and quality checks for your domain and be the person analysts ask when a number looks wrong. The role is fully remote within United Kingdom, with a desk in the office for anyone who would rather not work from home.

What we look for

This is a senior individual-contributor role. You will be expected to push back on requirements that do not make sense and to set the technical direction for your part of the product. We want strong SQL, comfort with Python, and experience with an orchestrator in production. Modelling judgement matters more here than knowing a specific vendor: you should be able to explain why a table is shaped the way it is.

Working at Bellrock Analytics

We work UK hours, and we treat the right to disconnect as a policy rather than a slogan. This is a contract engagement and the range shown is a DAY rate, inclusive of the usual contract premium.

Responsibilities

  • Build and operate ingestion and transformation pipelines end to end
  • Model warehouse tables that analysts can use without asking what a column means
  • Handle late, duplicate and malformed records explicitly rather than by accident
  • Own freshness, volume and quality checks with alerting that is worth reading
  • Document lineage so a number can be traced back to its source

Requirements

  • Strong SQL, including window functions and query tuning
  • Python for data work and for the glue around it
  • Production experience with Airflow, Dagster or a comparable orchestrator
  • A cloud warehouse such as BigQuery, Snowflake or Redshift
  • Comfortable reasoning about idempotent, replayable pipelines
