Salesforce Data Cloud Engineer – Audience & Activation

Position Details

Role: Salesforce Data Cloud Engineer Experience: 4+ Years Engagement: Part-Time Contract Work Location: Remote

Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on Salesforce Data Cloud (Data 360) Engineer who can own the upstream customer data pipeline, from data ingestion and identity resolution through audience segmentation and activation into Salesforce Marketing Cloud and other destinations.

The role requires strong practical experience configuring Data Cloud, building unified customer profiles, creating audiences, and managing the complete Data Cloud → Marketing Cloud activation process.

Key Responsibilities

Data Model & Identity

• Configure data streams and map source data into Data Cloud Data Model Objects (DMOs).
• Configure and optimize identity resolution rulesets.
• Maintain unified profiles, calculated insights, and derived attributes.
• Ensure customer data is accurately unified and usable for segmentation.

Segmentation & Activation

• Build, test, and refine audience segments using Segmentation Canvas, calculated insights, and identity-resolved profiles.
• Activate audiences into:

• Salesforce Marketing Cloud
• Sales Cloud
• Loyalty Cloud
• External destinations / paid media
• Configure downstream Marketing Cloud Data Extensions to receive activated audiences.

Handoff & Data Quality

• Own the end-to-end Data Cloud → Marketing Cloud handoff.
• Validate audience and segment readiness before activation.
• Monitor activation pipelines and troubleshoot:

• Sync failures
• Record-count discrepancies
• Identity mismatches
• Activation delays
• Ensure consent, privacy, and data governance requirements are maintained.

Client & Team Collaboration

• Translate business requirements into audience and segment definitions.
• Define inclusion/exclusion logic and frequency rules.
• Document segment logic and activation configurations.
• Work closely with Marketing Cloud Journey Architects to ensure audiences are delivered in the required format.

Required Skills & Experience

• 4+ years of hands-on Salesforce Data Cloud / Data 360 experience.
• Experience with real implementations covering ingestion through activation.
• Strong experience with:

• Data Streams
• Data Model Objects (DMOs)
• Data Model Mapping
• Identity Resolution Rulesets
• Calculated Insights
• Computed Traits
• Segmentation Canvas
• Audience Activation
• Proven experience activating audiences into Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
• Working knowledge of Marketing Cloud Engagement data architecture, including:

• Data Extensions
• Subscriber Keys
• Activated audience handling
• Strong SQL skills for audience logic and data validation.
• Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Exposure to zero-copy data sharing.
• Strong troubleshooting and data-quality mindset.
• Ability to trace data from source → identity resolution → segmentation → activation.
• Good written communication and documentation skills.

Good to Have

• Previous experience with another Customer Data Platform (CDP).
• Experience working with customer data, audience activation, and marketing automation ecosystems.
