MailerMen's core sending engine is a Java 17 service that queues, throttles and delivers a few million transactional emails a month, and it needs another pair of hands.

The systems you will touch

You will sit with the delivery team in our Bengaluru office and work inside the Spring Boot service that turns a queued campaign into individual send jobs. Early tickets are small and real: adding a bounce-reason enum to the webhook parser, writing the JPA repository method behind the "resend failed only" button, tightening a MySQL query that scans the events table whenever a customer opens their reporting page.

How the six months are shaped

The first few weeks are mostly reading code and pairing. By month two you own a feature end to end, from the REST contract through the schema migration to the JUnit tests that prove it works. By the end of this six month internship you will have shipped a per-account rate limiter that other teams call, and you will be able to explain exactly how it behaves under load.

Who tends to do well here

You are finishing a degree, you have written Java outside of coursework, and you would rather spend an afternoon debugging something confusing than be handed a problem someone else already solved.

Responsibilities

  • Ship features inside the Spring Boot sending service, from REST contract through to database migration
  • Write JPA repository methods and tune the MySQL queries behind campaign reporting screens
  • Extend the webhook parser that classifies bounce and complaint responses from mailbox providers
  • Cover every change with JUnit tests before raising it for review
  • Build a per-account rate limiter that other internal services depend on
  • Present your own work at daily standup and the weekly design review

Requirements

  • Final-year student or recent graduate in any engineering or computer science stream
  • Comfortable writing Java classes, interfaces and collections without copying from a tutorial
  • Basic SQL including joins and indexes, and willingness to learn to read a query plan
  • Available three days a week at our Bengaluru office
  • Some Git history of your own work, however small the projects

Skills

Benefits

  • Monthly stipend paid on the first working day
  • One dedicated senior mentor for the full six months
  • Pre-placement offer considered for interns who ship consistently
  • Internship certificate plus a reference our engineering managers write themselves
