UI/UX Design Intern - Mobile App

Why this role exists
Seventy percent of jobseekers reach MailerMen from a phone, and our Android app still behaves like a shrunken desktop site. Fixing that is the entire brief for this three month internship.
Day to day
You will own the candidate side of the app: the job feed, the resume upload sheet, saved searches, and the application status tracker that people check twice a day. Work happens in Figma against our mobile kit, handoff runs through Dev Mode, and every Tuesday your screens get opened on a real mid range device so the team can see how they behave on a slow connection.
Who this suits
Someone finishing college or recently graduated who has designed at least one app screen for the joy of it. You should know the platform conventions, or be willing to learn them quickly, and be comfortable defending a decision on a call with three engineers.
The role is fully remote within India with hours you arrange around classes. You get a weekly one to one with the product designer who currently owns the app, and by the end of three months you will have shipped screens used by thousands of candidates every week.
Responsibilities
- Redesign the candidate job feed for small screens, including filters, sorting and scroll behaviour
- Design the resume upload sheet so it survives a slow connection and recovers cleanly from failure
- Own the application status tracker screens end to end, from wireframe to Dev Mode handoff
- Adapt our mobile component kit as you go and push missing components back into it
- Open weekly builds on a real mid range Android device and log where they drift from your design
- Join Tuesday build reviews and give written feedback on what shipped
Requirements
- Final year student or fresh graduate with a portfolio showing at least one mobile interface
- Working knowledge of Figma including variants and prototyping
- Familiarity with Material Design conventions, or the willingness to learn them fast
- Reliable internet and availability for two calls a week during Indian business hours
- No professional experience expected
