An API is a promise about behaviour. This role is largely about making those promises precise: what an endpoint accepts, what it returns, what happens when a caller sends something unexpected, and how that stays consistent as the product changes.
Around that sits the rest of the backend — the business logic behind each route, the queries that feed it, and the rules deciding who is allowed to see what. Some weeks lean toward building something new; others go on working out why a request that used to be fast no longer is.
We are hiring at the two-to-four-year mark, which usually means you have inherited code you did not write and formed opinions about what made it easy or hard to change.

Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable backend services.
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs.
- Implement business logic and application workflows.
- Work with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
- Optimize database queries and application performance.
- Implement authentication and authorization.
- Integrate third-party APIs and services.
- Debug production and development issues.
- Write unit and integration tests.
- Participate in code reviews.
- Collaborate with frontend and product teams.
Requirements
- 2-4 years of backend development experience.
- Strong knowledge of at least one backend programming language.
- Experience developing REST APIs.
- Good understanding of databases.
- Knowledge of authentication and authorization.
- Experience with Git.
- Good understanding of software architecture.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
