Technical SEO Intern - Search Console & Site Audits

The problem you're joining
Our site has around 11,000 indexable URLs and roughly a fifth of them should not exist. Duplicate job pages, expired listings still returning a 200, paginated archives quietly eating crawl budget. Cleaning that up is your first project, and you will see the index count move because of work you did.
Day to day
This six-month internship is hands-on with Search Console, Screaming Frog and our internal sitemap generator. You will run fortnightly crawls, log every 4xx and redirect chain in a shared tracker with an owner beside it, validate our JobPosting structured data, and write the engineering ticket that actually gets picked up rather than ignored. Later you will help plan the migration of our city pages onto a new URL pattern without losing the rankings they already have.
What we expect
You should be comfortable reading a crawl report and forming an opinion about it, not just exporting it and passing it on. You do not need to have done any of this professionally. You do need to be curious about why Google picked one canonical over another. The weekly call sits in IST business hours and the rest of your week is yours to plan.
Responsibilities
- Run fortnightly full-site crawls in Screaming Frog and triage everything they surface
- Maintain a live log of broken links, redirect chains and orphaned pages with owners assigned
- Validate JobPosting structured data and fix the schema errors flagged in Search Console
- Audit crawl budget waste from expired listings and paginated archives
- Write engineering tickets with a clear reproduction, an expected fix and a priority
- Monitor Core Web Vitals across our ten highest-traffic page templates
- Support the city page URL migration with a redirect map and a post-launch rankings watch
Requirements
- Final-year student or graduate of any stream, with no prior work experience expected
- Comfortable reading an HTTP status code and explaining what it means to someone else
- Basic HTML familiarity and the patience to work through a very large spreadsheet
- Available for one weekly call during IST business hours
- Real curiosity about how crawling and indexing actually work
