Our reporting grew organically and it shows. Twelve people write their own SQL, four of them define a signup differently, and the numbers in the Monday email rarely match the numbers in the board deck. You are joining to help fix that.
This six month internship places you inside our small BI group, where you will move ad hoc queries into dbt models with tests and documentation attached. You will start with the jobs mart: one clean model for postings, one for applications, one for employer accounts, each with a freshness check and a schema test so a silent upstream change is caught before a recruiter notices. From there you rebuild the executive dashboard in Metabase on top of those models.
You will be fully remote and expected to write things down. Every model needs a description a non technical account manager can read. We run a weekly video review of open pull requests where you defend your naming choices, and yes, naming is a real conversation here.
You do not need to have used dbt before. You do need to be comfortable in SQL and curious about why data teams bother with version control at all.
MailerMen runs a verified job board covering startup and product roles across twelve markets, and takes on interns across engineering, data, design and marketing to build it.
