Linux Systems and Automation Intern

Two months is not long, so this internship is deliberately narrow. You will spend it automating the boring parts of our Linux server estate from the Gurugram office, three days a week on site.

The scope

We still run a handful of machines configured by whoever logged in last. You will write Ansible playbooks that bring them back to a known state, covering user accounts, SSH hardening, log rotation and unattended security updates. Then you will script the backup verification job that currently nobody runs, because it lives in one person's shell history.

What you will learn

How a package manager, a systemd unit and a cron job actually behave when they disagree with each other. How to write a script that fails loudly instead of silently. How to hand over work so the next person can run it without asking you first.

Terms and expectations

This internship is unpaid, kept short on purpose, and we are upfront about it. In exchange you get direct mentorship from our infrastructure lead, real servers rather than a sandbox, and documentation with your name on it. You need to be comfortable at a terminal, understand file permissions, and be studying or recently finished with a technical degree. Bring questions, plenty of them.
