The problem you are handed
Candidate profiles on MailerMen are still one long intimidating form, and fewer than a third of the people who start it ever finish. Over three months you will rebuild it as a multi step React flow with autosave, backed by an Express endpoint that parses an uploaded PDF resume into structured fields and a completeness score stored on the user document.
How we work remotely
Everyone on this pod is spread across India, so we default to writing. You post a short standup each morning, join a planning call on Monday and a demo call on Thursday, and otherwise work in the hours that suit you. Anything merged reaches staging the same day, so you see your work running quickly.
What you take away
By the end you will have shipped a feature that thousands of job seekers touch, written your first background job with BullMQ, and learned how to debug a Mongoose query that looked fine locally and fell over in production. You will also pick up a habit we value more than any framework: reading the existing code before adding to it.
Responsibilities
- Rebuild the candidate profile as a multi step React form with autosave and validation
- Write the Express and Mongoose layer behind profile creation, editing and completion scoring
- Integrate a PDF resume parser and map its output onto the user schema
- Move slow work such as resume parsing into a BullMQ background job
- Instrument the signup funnel so we can see where candidates drop off
- Post a written standup daily and demo your work on Thursday calls
Requirements
- Recent graduate or final year student, zero years of professional experience expected
- A GitHub profile with at least one React or Node.js project we can look at
- Working knowledge of HTTP methods, status codes and request bodies
- Reliable laptop and internet, since the role is fully remote within India
- Comfortable writing in English, because most of our communication is written
