Azure and .NET Cloud Engineering Intern

MailerMen runs on Azure: App Service for the web tier, Azure SQL as the primary database, Service Bus between the job ingestion workers, and Blob Storage holding every resume ever uploaded to us. Nobody on the team arrived knowing all of that, and you are not expected to either.
How the six months are shaped
This six month internship splits roughly in half. In the first stretch you learn the estate through maintenance work: tightening a Bicep template, adding health checks to two App Services, moving connection strings out of configuration files and into Key Vault. In the second half you take ownership of the resume virus scanning pipeline, an Azure Function triggered by blob upload that currently fails silently whenever the scanner times out. You will add dead letter handling, alerting through Application Insights and a replay tool for the operations team.
What we actually care about
We care that you read the documentation before asking, that you can explain what a managed identity does once you have used one, and that you leave a runbook behind for anything you build. Cloud certifications are not required and will not come up in the interview. Curiosity about how a request truly reaches your controller counts for far more.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and extend Bicep templates for App Service, Azure SQL and Service Bus resources
- Move remaining connection strings and API keys into Azure Key Vault with managed identity access
- Own the resume virus scanning Azure Function, including dead letter handling and replay
- Add Application Insights instrumentation and alert rules across the ingestion workers
- Write runbooks for every pipeline you touch and keep them in the operations wiki
- Take part in the monthly failover drill for the Azure SQL primary
Requirements
- Final year student or recent graduate with solid C# fundamentals
- Basic understanding of HTTP, DNS and what a load balancer does
- Comfortable in a terminal and able to read YAML or Bicep syntax
- Able to attend our Hyderabad office three days a week
- No cloud certification and no prior professional experience needed
