Job ingestion at MailerMen is not one application. A scraper service pulls listings from partner feeds, a normaliser cleans them, a classifier tags them by role family and a publisher writes the final record. They speak to each other over RabbitMQ and each owns its own database. You will work across all four during this six month internship.
The normaliser is the weak link. It processes messages one at a time, offers no idempotency guarantee, and duplicates a listing whenever a partner replays a feed. Your main project is to give it a deduplication key derived from the employer identifier and the job URL, batch its database writes, and add an outbox table so that a crash between the database commit and the message publish cannot quietly lose work.
The team is spread across four cities and remote by default. You get a written onboarding path for your first two weeks, a mentor who reviews your code within one working day, and access to production traces so you can watch your own service behave under real load instead of guessing at it.
MailerMen runs a verified job board covering startup and product roles across twelve markets, and takes on interns across engineering, data, design and marketing to build it.
