Design Systems & Component Library Intern

There are nine different button styles in our codebase and no two of them agree on a focus ring. A design system fixes that, and building one turns out to be an unusually good way to learn how the web fits together.

Half a year of building

Across six months you will help turn our Figma library into real, documented components: buttons, form fields, the toast that currently cannot be dismissed with a keyboard, and a data table that behaves on a small screen. Each one ships with usage docs, a Storybook entry and visual regression coverage. You will also run the migration, replacing old markup page by page and negotiating with the engineers who preferred their version.

Why it is worth your six months

Component work teaches API design in miniature. You learn why a prop should be a boolean rather than a string, why tokens beat hardcoded hex values, and how one careless default quietly breaks fourteen screens. Those lessons carry into whatever stack you touch next.

Where and how

Hybrid from Lower Parel, three days on site, and you will present progress at the fortnightly design and engineering review. Final year students and recent graduates are precisely who this internship was designed for.
