The system you'll work on
MailerMen's job matching engine runs on ASP.NET Core, and the service that scores a candidate against an open role handles a few hundred thousand comparisons a day. That service is where you will spend most of this six-month internship. You start by shadowing bug fixes inside the scoring API, then take ownership of endpoints of your own: employer dashboard filters, saved search alerts, and the internal admin routes our operations team lives in.
How the six months are shaped
Weeks one to four are onboarding. You pair with a senior engineer, read the codebase properly, and ship something small by day four so the deployment pipeline stops feeling frightening. From month two you pull tickets off the sprint board like everyone else, write your own xUnit tests, and defend your pull requests in review. By month five you should be able to design a new endpoint end to end, from the Entity Framework migration through to the response contract.
What you take away
A production codebase on your CV, code review habits that survive your first real job, and a reference from the engineer who reviewed every line you wrote. Interns who ship consistently are the first people we call when a junior backend seat opens up.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain REST endpoints in the ASP.NET Core candidate matching service
- Write EF Core migrations and keep the SQL Server schema in step with feature work
- Cover every new endpoint with xUnit unit and integration tests before requesting review
- Reproduce defects raised by the operations team with a failing test before fixing them
- Take part in daily standup and sprint planning alongside the full backend team
- Document each endpoint you ship in the internal Swagger annotations
Requirements
- Final year student or recent graduate in any discipline, no professional experience needed
- Comfortable writing C# classes, interfaces and async methods without a tutorial open
- Basic understanding of HTTP verbs, status codes and JSON request bodies
- Able to run a project locally using Git, the .NET CLI and Visual Studio or Rider
- Available three days a week at our Bengaluru office
