Our regression suite takes fifty one minutes and roughly one run in six fails for reasons that have nothing to do with the code. Engineers have started ignoring red builds, which is the worst outcome a test suite can produce. Across three months you become the person who fixes that.
You start by tagging every flaky test in the .NET suite and finding its actual cause: shared database state, hard coded waits, tests that only pass in a particular order. Then you rewrite them. You will introduce Testcontainers so each test class gets a clean SQL Server instance, split the pipeline so unit and integration runs happen in parallel stages, and add a dashboard tracking pass rate and duration per build.
Interns who thrive in this role are stubborn in a useful way. They chase a failure to its root instead of sprinkling a retry attribute over it and moving on. You sit with the quality engineering group in our Mumbai office three days a week, and you will be expected to block a pull request when its tests are weak, including one written by someone far more senior than you.
MailerMen runs a verified job board covering startup and product roles across twelve markets, and takes on interns across engineering, data, design and marketing to build it.
