REST API Integration Intern (JavaScript)

Somewhere between our Node services and the browser, data has to be fetched, cached, retried when the network drops on the metro, and rendered without the page jumping around. That seam is where you will spend three months.
Concretely
You will connect the new employer dashboard to our REST API: paginated applicant lists, filter parameters that survive a page refresh, optimistic updates when a recruiter shortlists a candidate, and sensible handling of the 401 that arrives when a token quietly expires. You will also write the shared fetch wrapper the rest of the frontend uses, with timeouts and predictable error shapes.
The environment
Hybrid, with two days a week at our Gurugram office and the rest wherever suits you. You will read a great deal of API documentation, and when it is wrong you are the person who corrects it. Backend engineers sit close enough to argue with in person, which remains the fastest way to learn what a good endpoint looks like.
Coming in
Solid JavaScript, promises and async await that you genuinely understand rather than copy, and enough curiosity to open the network tab before asking why something broke. No job history is expected, and none is required.
Responsibilities
- Connect the employer dashboard to paginated REST endpoints for applicants and job posts
- Keep filter and sort parameters in the URL so state survives a refresh
- Implement optimistic updates for shortlisting with a clean rollback on failure
- Handle expired tokens, timeouts and retries inside a shared fetch wrapper
- Define predictable error shapes and the user facing messages that go with them
- Correct and extend the API documentation whenever reality disagrees with it
Requirements
- Final year student or recent graduate with no professional background expected
- Confident with promises, async await and JSON handling in JavaScript
- Can read an API specification and work out which request to send
- Available two days a week at the Gurugram office for three months
