Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Developer

MailerMen is hiring a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Developer to build, customise and support Business Central solutions for implementation and enhancement projects. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is Microsoft's enterprise resource planning (ERP) product for small and mid-sized businesses, holding finance, sales, purchasing, inventory and supply chain processes in a single system. The role is a hands-on technical one, working closely with functional consultants, business stakeholders and technical teams to turn business requirements into scalable solutions on the platform.
Most of the development work is done in AL, the programming language in which Business Central extensions are written, using Visual Studio Code. You will develop and customise tables and table extensions, pages and page extensions, codeunits, reports and report extensions, and you will work with queries, XMLports for importing and exporting data, interfaces and events, workflows, and permission sets and security. Extensions are designed and packaged following Microsoft best practices, which includes managing the dependencies between them so that customisations survive platform updates cleanly. The work may sit on Business Central SaaS, on-premises environments or both, and a good grasp of the underlying architecture and development framework matters throughout.
The role also covers everything around the code. You will develop integrations between Business Central and third-party applications using APIs, web services, OData and REST APIs, carry out data migration, data import and export, and configuration activities, and build reports using RDLC and Word layouts and the Business Central reporting tools. Source control and the development process run on Azure DevOps and Git. You will troubleshoot application and technical issues, perform root-cause analysis, take part in unit testing, integration testing, user acceptance testing and deployment, prepare technical specifications, documentation and deployment plans, and provide production support within agreed service level agreements. Experience with the Power Platform, Power Automate, Power BI, Azure services and Logic Apps, with Business Central upgrades and NAV-to-BC migrations, or with the Finance, Sales, Purchase, Inventory and Supply Chain modules is useful but not required.

- Troubleshoot application and technical issues and perform root-cause analysis.
- Take part in unit testing, integration testing, user acceptance testing and deployment activities.
- Use Azure DevOps and Git for source control and day-to-day development processes.
- Collaborate with functional consultants to translate business requirements into technical solutions, and prepare technical specifications, documentation and deployment plans.
- Provide production support and resolve technical issues within agreed service level agreements.
Requirements
- 5–8 years of experience in Microsoft Dynamics NAV or Dynamics 365 Business Central development.
- Strong hands-on experience with AL programming and a good understanding of the Business Central architecture and development framework.
- Hands-on experience building tables and table extensions, pages and page extensions, codeunits, and reports and report extensions.
- Experience working with queries, XMLports, interfaces and events, workflows, and permission sets and security, and with building Business Central extensions and managing the dependencies between them.
- Experience with Business Central SaaS environments, on-premises environments or both.
- Strong understanding of Business Central APIs and integrations, including web services, OData and REST APIs.
- Experience with Visual Studio Code and with Git or Azure DevOps for source control.
- Good knowledge of SQL Server and database concepts, together with experience of data migration and integration tools.
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field is required.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation and troubleshooting skills, good communication and stakeholder-management ability, and the ability to work independently or as part of a cross-functional team in an Agile environment.
- Experience with the Power Platform, Power Automate, Power BI, Azure services and Logic Apps is preferred, as is experience integrating Business Central with external systems such as CRM, e-commerce, banking or payroll.
- Experience with Business Central upgrades and NAV-to-BC migrations, a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central certification, and an understanding of the Finance, Sales, Purchase, Inventory and Supply Chain modules are advantageous.
