Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Azure Data Platform / PostgreSQL DBA Engineer to own the target platform and data migration for an Oracle to PostgreSQL migration on Azure.

The role involves provisioning Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server with zone-redundant high availability, executing the big-bang migration using Azure Database Migration Service (DMS), establishing AKS and Key Vault connectivity, and driving the production cutover runbook and rollback plan.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the target Azure data platform and data migration activities.
• Provision and configure Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server with zone-redundant HA.
• Execute the big-bang migration using Azure Database Migration Service (DMS).
• Validate migration results, including:
• Row counts
• LOBs
• Sequences
• Establish and manage AKS / Key Vault connectivity.
• Drive the production cutover runbook.
• Author and maintain the rollback plan.
• Support the Oracle to PostgreSQL migration, including schema and type mapping.

Must-Have Skills & Experience

PostgreSQL Administration

• 5+ years of database engineering experience.
• Strong PostgreSQL administration experience.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server, including:
• High Availability (HA)
• SKU/IOPS sizing
• Backups
• Maintenance windows

Azure Database Migration Service

• Hands-on experience with Azure Database Migration Service (DMS).
• Experience executing an offline/big-bang migration.
• Oracle source migration experience is preferred.
• Experience with:
• Row-count validation
• LOB validation
• Sequence validation

Oracle

• Working knowledge of Oracle.
• Understanding of Oracle schema and type mapping for PostgreSQL migration.

AKS

• Experience with:
• ConfigMaps
• Secrets
• Kustomize
• Rolling redeploys

Azure Networking

• Experience with:
• VNet integration
• Private endpoints
• Private DNS

Azure Key Vault

• Experience with Azure Key Vault and AKS.
• Knowledge of:
• CSI Secret Store
• Synced secrets

Strongly Desired Skills

• Flyway / Liquibase
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
• Bicep
• Terraform
• Experience authoring:
• Production cutover runbooks
• Rollback plans
